After submitting your sitemap, Bing will begin processing it. Here’s what to expect:

  1. Initial processing: Bing will queue your sitemap for processing, which typically takes 1-3 days
  2. Crawling begins: Bing’s crawlers will start visiting the URLs listed in your sitemap
  3. Indexing: Pages will gradually appear in Bing’s search index
  4. Statistics: The Bing Webmaster Tools dashboard will show crawling and indexing statistics

You don’t need to resubmit your sitemap unless its location changes. Bing will periodically check for updates to your sitemap automatically.

  • Check the “Crawl Control” settings to ensure Bing can efficiently crawl your site
  • Review any crawl errors reported in the dashboard and fix them promptly
  • Use the “URL Inspection” tool to check specific pages’ indexing status
  • Consider submitting important pages directly using the “Submit URL” feature for faster indexing
  • Monitor your performance in the “Search Performance” section to identify optimization opportunities
